ABOUT THIS WATERSHED
Snowfall on 15 blue-and clear-glass sculptures illustrates one aspect of the definition of a watershed: “the land where all the water flows to a common lake, stream, or river.” In this north St. Louis city park, melting snow flows down the bluff on concrete steps, built in the 1930s by the Works Progress Administration. These melt waters enter directly into the Mississippi River, a watershed that covers 40 percent of the continental United States.
