ABOUT THIS WATERSHED
The Sedge Cairn was photographed at dusk to illustrate the ways we can pass very close to natural areas without seeing the water. Sedge was placed on the remains of an old campfire on a gravel bar separating two ponds, not far from the location of our first Sedge image. You can see the trains that were constantly moving on the higher ground behind the ponds. Just beyond the trees, in the upper right corner of the image, car and truck traffic is rushing on Illinois Highway 3.
Sedge ll was created during a Six Mile Sculpture Works, Alfresco Productions Artists’ Residency, Granite City, Illinois.
