ABOUT THIS WATERSHED
It matters whether we call this a stream or a ditch. A stream is associated with nature, plants, and animals. A ditch is just a utilitarian way of getting water away from a place where it isn’t wanted. This waterway looks and acts like a stream. It nourishes a multiplicity of wild plants, insects, reptiles, and (judging by the tracks in the mud) small animals and deer as it runs between Brickyard Lane and a farmer’s field. Just beyond Silver Creek Spire Cairn, and the camera’s range, this rivulet empties into Silver Creek, downstream from the Silver Creek Preserve.
