ABOUT THIS WATERSHED
The title of this piece refers to the genetic mutations occurring in frogs and fish in rivers where high concentrations of hormones and chemicals from prescription drugs have been detected in the water.
We did not measure the chemical content of the water in this Chesterfield Missouri River channel downstream from the causeway leading to Howell Island. Nor did we see any mutant frogs. The fish, whose skeletons rest at the base of this wood-and-glass cairn, probably died of natural causes.
