ABOUT THIS WATERSHED
A gravel road marked with a stop sign and a Mississippi River Trails marker led us to location this location where the Mississippi River enters Lake Winnibigoshish. Minnesota’s “Lake Winnie” is the fourth largest lake in Minnesota. Located in the Chippewa National Forest and surrounded by hundreds of square miles of diverse woodlands, gently rolling hills and lush marshlands, Lake Winnie is comprised of 67,000 acres of clear, pristine water. In addition to the snails washed up on the shore in in this image, fishermen catch walleye, jumbo perch, northern pike and musky and other fish.
