FOUNTAIN CITY BAY OVERLOOK
Merrick State Park, Fountain City, Wisconsin—Sept. 2016 44° 08’ 59”N 91° 44’ 56”W Elevation 850 feet
This stonewall in Merrick State Park overlooks the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge, 240,000 acres of land and water between Wabasha Minnesota, in the north, to Rock Island, Illinois in the south. The refuge is a part of the important bird migration route along the Mississippi River between the United States and Canada. Symbolizing the connection between the flyway and the river, the clear-glass vases and bowls support a green goblet, open to the distant clouds.
